Geriatric Dementia Screening

Screenings designed to identify signs of memory loss and cognitive decline early—supporting timely diagnosis, treatment planning, and peace of mind for families

Understand Changes in Cognitive Function

A dementia screening assesses memory, attention, language, and problem-solving skills to determine if cognitive changes are part of normal aging, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), or dementia (e.g., Alzheimer’s).

It can also help distinguish between dementia and depression, which are often misdiagnosed and can establish a baseline of current cognitive functioning to allow for the standardized assessment and documentation of potential future deterioration. Such an assessment may also be helpful in addressing questions of competency.
